We want a working country, where logic rules and not the usual ‘na Naija we dey’. With a new Nigeria must come a transition in ideologies.he ‘Nigerianness’ of the average Nigerian is so deep that he unconsciously leaves his brain at his hometown while coming to Lagos.

Let me explain.

I once shared a ride with a colleague late last year and in his bid to settle the tenants struggling for supremacy in his belly while confronting the infamous Lagos traffic, he bought Gala and a drink (I do not remember which again).

Few minutes later, fiam, the Gala wrap was waving us goodbye as it flew through the window joining it’s classmates on the already littered roads.

Me: Deji, you should have just put that wrap in your backpack. He had one big enough to enter all the angry children of Twitter.

Deji: For what na? The streets are already dirty. One more won’t make any difference.

And till we got to the bus stop where we parted, it was a serious back and forth on something as fundamental as trashing dirt appropriately and helping keep your town clean!

Was I exhausted yes!

Did he eventually agree with me no!

Bro is still somewhere clothing Lagos with Gala wraps.

As the cry for a new Nigeria rents the air, let us remember that a good leader must have first been a good citizen. When the new Nigeria emerges, we wouldn’t be able to do that. No Sir, you don’t throw trash through the window in sane climes.

Plastic does not decompose. All plastic that has ever been dumped in the environment is still present there. Rain easily carries these plastics to water bodies where fish eat them thinking them to be prey. There is evidence showing that plastics can move from a fish’s stomach to its muscle tissue which is what we eat.

So your next party jollof might as well be spiced with atarodo and a touch of PET bottles!

At Trashusers Services, we pay you money for helping Nigeria keep clean. Stack up your plastic wastes and bring them to our collection hub at barbwire, Lion Beach, Ibeju-lekki. Today is a good day to start.
